Registered Massage Therapy
Performed by our certified Registered Massage Therapists (RMT), who are recognized as Health Care Professionals in Canada. RMT receipts are available upon request.
This rehabilitating treatment includes a combination of various techniques, customized by our therapists to target your specific needs, including a deep tissue massage.
Massage Therapy is beneficial to everybody, and can help with so much more than just relaxation. On top of being incredibly helpful for stress and anxiety, massage also reduces pain & inflammation, improves circulation, range of motion & athletic performance and speeds up injury recovery.
Massage is for people of all ages and professions. Our RMTs have worked with clients aging 7 to 90, including pregnant women and disabled people.
Numerous research has shown that massage therapy can be helpful in treating acute, subacute and chronic pain, headaches & migraines, nerve pain, sprains, strains, IBS, whiplash, concussion symptoms, TMJD, and is recommended for post-surgery recovery. Myofascial release techniques can be done on the healed scar to break up adhesions, and lymphatic drainage can decrease swelling. For TMJ issues.
Massage therapy is amazing on it’s own, but can have a synergistic effect when combined with other modalities such as Acupuncture and Kinesiology.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to relieve pain, health conditions and symptoms. It can also help improve overall health in general. The needles rebalance your body’s energy, or qi, and prompt your body to release natural chemicals to fight the illness or symptom. In BC, acupuncture is commonly used as a pain treatment option. Acupuncture is believed to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and restore balance to the body’s energy, or qi, which can become disrupted and lead to pain and illness.
Many patients have reported positive results with acupuncture as a pain treatment option, and it is often used in conjunction with other therapies such as massage, physiotherapy and chiropractic. Acupuncture is also known to have few side effects and is generally considered safe when performed by a licensed and trained practitioner. to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Somatic and Active Rehab Therapy
This psycho-biological (or mind-body) model combines counselling therapy with movement, grounding and mindfulness techniques. Build more body awareness and tap into emotions to release trauma, anxiety and stress somatically, with or without verbalization.
When we have an experience that we are not able to process at the time, it may become an imprint that gets stuck in the body. When left frozen and undigested, trauma leaves us continuously, actively and without conscious awareness, constructing our current experiences to match the imprint of the past. 80 per cent of signals move from body to brain (bottom-up), Somatic Therapy focuses on allowing the body to speak, cultivating observation and description of body experiences. When stress increases, old traumas and wounds may become aggravated, bringing up feelings and thoughts of inadequacy, and cutting us off from our intrinsic belonging. Somatic Therapy works to restore the natural state of your body, which is the inner-resiliency that is your human birthright.
Today, unresolved trauma is showing up as:
● Chronic illness/pain
● Anxiety/depression
● PTSD-related behaviors that alienate you from others
● Relationship conflict
● Confusion about life purpose
● Dissatisfaction with work
● Addiction/alcoholism
Sessions explore what is showing up in the physical and emotional bodies. We, bring awareness to our symptoms as information, and work to restore the body-mind to its inner state of resiliency. Somatic Therapy may be especially helpful if you have not been successful in using allopathic medical approaches or mechanical models for treating chronic pain, digestive disorders and other chronic disorders. In a typical session, you can expect the following:
• Somatic exercise & movement, gestures, sounds, light touch
• Acupressure, reiki, & therapeutic body-work
• Counselling therapy
• Grounding & meditation

This treatment induces deep relaxation at the cellular level similar to that of sensory deprivation (floating) but without immersing in salt water. It is deeply restorative for the nervous system and also equivalent to a 2-3 hour nap.
This Singing Bowl contact massage method was developed by Victor Ogui as a result of his 25 years of his work as a massage therapist and 10 years of scientific research and expeditions to the Himalayas and Asia. Based on this method of massage, V. Ogui and his students did research and published 5 articles in Russian and international scientific journals.

Reiki
Salt has two Reiki therapists. Candie is a master in Usui Reiki and has been performing Reiki sessions for 5 years. She has also been a massage therapist for 7 years and is currently offering holistic healing massages at Salt while working towards her RMT designation. Candie combines both Eastern and Western techniques with stretching, acupressure points and moving energy through meridians. She uses a variety of techniques, including deep tissue massage to relax tense muscles while invigorating your body’s blood flow. With her experience to date, Candie has developed her signature style of therapeutic treatment using reiki techniques and chakra balancing to promote further healing. Candie loves the challenge of working with those experiencing chronic pain, specifically in the neck and shoulders, hips and also those who suffer from headaches and sciatica. Her philosophy for all her work is based on removing obstacles that block our abilities to see, hear, feel and connect more intimately with our own mind, body and spirit. Jenna is currently studying her Level 2 Reiki and has been incorporating this modality with her Somatic Trauma Therapy and Yoga Therapy for 10 years. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher, Relational Somatic Therapist and Movement Rehabilitation Coach.
